about lotus & fern
Meet Susan
Hi, I'm Susan, founder and floral designer at Lotus and Fern Floral Design. Working from my home studio in Seattle, I specialize in custom floral arrangements and thoughtfully styled decor, tailored to elevate your special moments.
I’m passionate about bringing beauty and artistry to every celebration. I take time to understand your vision and story before creating something that's truly yours, whether you are planning an intimate gathering, need a weekly floral subscription, or just want an individual arrangement for someone special.
As I grow my business, I'm committed to aligning my floral design practices with my sustainable values. As a lifelong environmentalist, I mindfully source seasonal and locally grown blooms whenever possible, reduce waste, and make choices that contribute to a more beautiful and responsible future.
Our Mission
To bring joy and meaningful connection through nature-inspired floral designs, created with care for the earth and a heartfelt commitment to exceptional service.
Our Values
Keep It Wild
Nature knows best. We let organic shapes, seasonal blooms, and earthy textures lead the way. Our designs embrace the natural beauty of flowers in their most authentic form.
Tread Lightly
We care about the planet. From composting flower scraps to sourcing locally grown blooms, sustainability is always at the heart of my practices. Beautiful celebrations shouldn't come at the expense of our environment.
Make Connections
We want to nurture relationships with customers, growers, and our community. Flowers have a unique way of connecting us all, and we believe in fostering those meaningful relationships.
Customer Satisfaction
Every arrangement is made with care, attention to detail, and a passion for exceeding expectations. Your joy and satisfaction drive everything we do.
Sustainable Practices
Environmental consciousness isn't just a value—it's woven into every aspect of how Lotus & Fern operates:
Local Sourcing: Choosing locally grown products when possible reduces transportation impact, supports our community, and ensures the freshest seasonal blooms for every arrangement.
Composting: We compost all organic waste from both our home and studio. Whenever possible, we donate or repurpose leftover flowers from events into new arrangements to reduce waste and extend their beauty. Composting plays a key role in mitigating climate change, and we’re grateful to have a local composting company that accepts food and yard waste—returning nutrient-rich soil back into our community.
Seasonal Focus: Designing with what's naturally available reduces environmental strain and ensures the freshest blooms while celebrating the beauty of each season.
Minimal Waste: All packing materials (bags, sleeves, and tissue) are 100% compostable, recyclable, or reusable. The studio is full of cardboard, bubble wrap, and paper packaging from past flower purchases that Iwe store and repurpose for safe transport of designs!
Eco-Friendly Materials: Chicken wire, moss, and other natural elements instead of foam is used in all designs. We’re fortunate to support a locally-owned recycling service which picks up items that Seattle's recycling program cannot accept, such as plastic wrapping and rubber bands.
Ready to Get Started?
Every design begins with understanding your needs. Whether you’re planning an event, need regular flowers, or want something special for your space, discussing your vision is our priority.
